Review: “Barbizon Modeling School Ripoff Big Time Anahiem California”

From: ripoffreport.com
This is for all Barbizon schools. I went there and started learning makeup and more. They were teaching me how to do runway modeling but I was to short for runway so they said I could never do it. Then after a while I dropped out because if I could never use the classes why would I go but they charged me full price anyways even for the couple of classes I didn't take.\r\n\r\nThen a couple of years later I saw a ad in the newspaper saying they needed teachers I called them and let them know I went through Barbizon classes and had been to some schools for tv commercials and more and they said they couldn't hire me because I didn't know enough? How do you not hire someone who took classes at your school because they know to little???

Our Take

Modelista’s Take:\r\n\r\nReally? This person wrote a complaint based on something that was their own undoing. First of all, this person is mad that they were not hired by Barbizon because Barbizon felt they were not knowledgeable enough, yet the person … Continue reading

Is Barbizon a Scam?

From: answers.yahoo.com
I'm 13. i just started Barbizon on the 28th of April, and have had two classes so far. I have actually learned alot so far from them, and I made some new friends. but I have been reading online EVERYWHERE that Barbizon is a scam. Is this true? has anyone ever attended Barbizon, and did you get any jobs out of it? pleaseee only say it's a scam if you have personally attended and not gotten jobs.

Our Take

Top Model’s Take:\r\n\r\nI see this same question ALL THE TIME. “I saw some thing on the internet that Barbizon’s a scam.” But then you see a lot of positive testimonials on the Barbizon website as well. So what can you … Continue reading

Pissedconsumer.com: Interesting Complaint Find

From: pissedconsumer.com
So we ran across this complaint on pissedconsumer.com and it's really long so we listed some of the highlights below. \r\n\r\n"Recently my daughter attended Barbizon "training". True they do tell you they can not guarantee that your child will be signed. They sell you this saying they will prepare your child for this industry but they also promise other things in regards to what your paying for.I personally have shelled out $3,000 or more."\r\n\r\n"They said my child would recieve a make-up kit, textbook, & headshots as well as at the end would audition for agents."\r\n\r\n"When asked about the make-up kit we were told that is only for models. My child was in the pre-teen modeling & acting course. when asked about the textbook we were told they no longer used them."\r\n\r\n"the fashion show comes around where all clothes are provided by you, make-up is provided by you and i was also told no more than 5 guests! ive paid thousands of dollars and many hours just in traveling & i cant invite grandma & grandpa?"\r\n\r\n"Barbizon is a SCAM and people who are still attending the class or are thinking about it dont really know until they reach the end of forking out $?. Had i been 1 of the wiser people i wouldnt have paid the $ right? Wrong these people are great at what they do! Sales... dont get scammed dont spend your $ on this fake package. we got no make up kit no textbook no headshots no audition for agents no nothing"

Our Take

We were shocked to find the following note at the top of this complaint from the person who wrote this. Apparently, pissedconsumer.com does not allow people who write complaints then have them resolved take them down! Talk about scammy!  See … Continue reading

A Grads Perspective of Barbizon

From: pissedconsumer.com
Okay so this consumer is not "pissed" but it's still on pissedconsumer.com. We try to post both sides of the story so here it is: \r\n\r\n"So the truth is that Barbizon doesn't promise you work but they teach you great skills that will help you throughout life. I think Barbizon is amazing and it gave me so much confidence and taught me so many skills that are helpful in other areas than modeling and acting. I came from a Barbizon center in Alabama (yes ALABAMA), and now I'm getting modeling jobs all over the country. If you really want to gain confidence and have a shot at making it big, than Barbizon is the place for you."

Our Take

Modelista’s Take:\r\n\r\nOkay so as a Barbizon grad myself I can appreciate this post for one reason: Honesty. This post highlights what Barbizon is all about: training, building confidence and opportunities. I especially like the highlighted point that there is no … Continue reading

Review: Terri Thompson Money Hungry Maitland / Orlando Florida Barbizon Modeling

From: ripoffreport.com
This Complaint is VERY long so we decided to just post the highlights: \r\n\r\n"Just like many of the reports listed on here, "my daughter was "SELECTED" out of 400 girls to attend their exclusive training". Then came the money conversation, we were honest about our financial situation due to the economic strains and my husband being recently laid off. I originally declined, then the agent offered us to have the payments in smaller amounts since I could not afford the lump amount of $2000 so we took the bait."\r\n\r\nAfter missing "ONE PAYMENT" this past Friday, my daughter went to class on Saturday and was told she could not participate and no longer attend class until I made good on the payment. I was furious to see my baby in tears when I picked her up, and when I went into the school to speak to the Director Terri Thomas, she refused to even come out and face me. - Laverne\r\n

Our Take

Model Mama’s Take:\r\n\r\nFirst of all, this is not Barbizon’s fault. If you don’t have the money, you shouldn’t sign up for Barbizon.  From a mom who sent my daughter to Barbizon, I didn’t have any problems with Barbizon because I … Continue reading

Review: Barbizon School of Modeling Scam Complaint

From: pissedconsumer.com
I was contacted by an “agent” of Barbizon and she informed my that my daughter was selected for an interview and that the process was closed to the public and that she would be modeling for XZY’s fall clothing line....showed up to appointment only to see a line of about 200 others. Waited for hours. I knew it was a scam the moment I got there but my daughter wanted to wait to be interviewed. These people have no respect for one’s time and they just give our girls false hope. They want $2300 for modeling classes. Total scam and waste of time. No real modeling agency would ask you to pay for anything.

Our Take

Model Mama’s Take:\r\n\r\nFirst let me start off with Barbizon is not an agency. It’s a school. What’s the difference? An agency makes money (everyone has to make money) by taking a cut of the jobs they book for clients. Barbizon … Continue reading
